Are all Young@AI classes online?

Yes, all the classes are held online through Zoom or Google Meet. We combine live, instruction with interactive tools and hands-on projects to create an engaging remote learning experience.

Do students need prior coding experience to enroll into the courses?

Yes, Students are required to have Python coding experience. Students with no Python coding knowledge can enroll into our Python Foundations for AI course and then transition into the Intro to AI course. 

How long are the course sessions?

Courses are scheduled once a week and each session is 60 minutes long which includes; concept introduction, hands on practice, subject matter discussions and homework review. Please refer to the respective course pages for more details. 

What if the student misses a class or needs to change the timeslot? 

- Students are required to notify us at least 24 hours in advance to reschedule a session. Two reschedules are allowed for the duration of the course.
- If the student wishes to change the timeslot of their weekly sessions, at least one week advance notice is required and the change is subject to availability of the instructors. The same instructor cannot be guaranteed. 

What is the course cancellation policy?

Course cancellations have to be requested at least 1 week prior to the next billing cycle. No refunds shall be issued for the past months billed. 

Will there be a certificate issued upon completion?

Yes, students receive a certificate of completion detailing the skills and concepts they've mastered during the camp.

How do you handle different skill levels?

Our one on one mentorship allows us to:
- Adjust teaching pace
- Provide individual support
- Offer challenge extensions
- Customize projects

Will the projects developed during the course be accessible after course completion?  

Yes, students have complete access to their source code even after course completion.  

How different is the 'Python Foundations for AI' course from the traditional Python programming courses?

While we cover fundamentals like variables, loops, data structures and algorithms, this course prioritizes concepts most relevant to AI/ML work, such as arrays, data manipulation and visualization libraries. Think of it as a specialized path that teaches Python programming to prepare young learns for the artificial intelligence world.

Do students need prior programming experience to enroll into the 'Python Foundations for AI' course?

No prior programming experience is required. The course starts with basic Python concepts and gradually progresses to more advanced topics at student's pace.

What tools and software will students need to go through the courses?

A computer with internet access. All required software is open-source accessed through a web browser.

What is the eligibility criteria to apply to the YAIR program?

Students should be rising sophomores, rising juniors or rising high school seniors
Student commits to attend all online zoom classes. 

What is the selection process for the YAIR program?

  • Unweighted GPA > 3.8
  • Prior programming experience in Python.
  • Aspire to pursue a STEM major
  • Resume
  • SAT Score if available

How is the YAIR program organized?

  • Enrollment will be capped at a maximum of 30 students on a first come first serve basis.
  • Students learn to harness Python's powerful machine learning libraries, apply rigorous research methods, and utilize statistical tools, culminating in the ability to craft compelling research papers that meet publication standards.
  • Students will be grouped into 3 member teams in which they select one of the 12 areas of research.

Are there any pre requisites to enroll into the camps?

Python coding knowledge is essential to enroll into the summer camp. Students with no prior Python coding experience can enroll into our Python Foundations for AI course. 

What is the typical class size for camps?

We maintain a maximum ratio of 1 instructor to 6 students to ensure personalized attention and support.

What is the refund policy for camps?

Full refunds are available up to 30 days before the camp start date. 50% refunds are available up to 14 days before the start date. No refunds shall be offered after the start date of the camp. 

Are students allowed to change the session preference of the camp after registration? 

Yes, students need to notify us at least 1 week prior to the registered session date and the new preference of the session. Transfer of registration to the new session is subject to availability.
